What I'd like to do right now is introduce you to
The Studio for Actors
in Tucson, Arizona. I moved from New York City to Tucson in
to create and open a professional acting studio in the Southwest - and for more
than 20 years, it's been a one-of-a-kind situation.
The Studio isn’t connected to any talent agency, so you don't have someone dangling
auditions in front of you - "Take my $800 course and you’ll get auditions" - a classic
scam. The Studio is the real thing - just a superb training ground with 14 different
courses, each offered at beginning to advanced levels. People have studied at The
Studio who are as young as 12 and as seasoned as 80. Another rarity is that all
of these courses and private sessions are coached by someone with great credentials
and extensive experience. Click here for information about qualifications.
Training is offered in the following areas (at several different levels, ranging from beginning to advanced). Click on a course title for a full description.
There is a holiday gift waiting for you at The Studio for Actors.
This holiday season from late November through all of December up until January 31, 2016, you can take
four Comedy Improv classes for either $30 per week as you come, or $100 up front for all four classes.
The classes are set at $40 per week or $160 for the course, so this is a wonderful holiday discount.
The classes are on Wednesday evenings 6:30pm-8:00pm, four Wednesday evenings in a row. You can begin your four
evenings on any Wednesday night, up through January 06, 2016. If you have to miss a class during the series,
you can just do a make-up at the end of the four weeks.
If you need any information on this really really fun class, just visit the web site at Comedy Improvisation I or call (520) 881-2363, and have
the very best holidays ever.
These classes are taught by Anna Risley, a former Saturday Night Live full castmember.
After receiving her BA in Drama from the University of Wisconsin, Anna was in the
cast of Saturday Night Live for one year, in two Broadway shows, has been the lead
in some 35 plays nationwide, and has done two pilots for new sitcoms. Along with
these credits, her NYC/LA career included five weeks on a Soap and countless voice
jobs. She has also had small roles in several feature films. Anna has owned and
run The Studio For Actors here in Tucson since
and, although she continues to do extensive voice work as an actor, she personally
coaches all her group classes and private sessions. One of her favorite areas is
training students in dramatic and comedic scenes and monologues.
If you're signed up for a multi-week course and you have to miss one of the evenings,
you'll still owe for the class that you missed. In most cases, we can book a private
session outside of class to make up for the missed evening class.
